Force Recon MSOB helmet

I acquired a cheap MSA MICH TC2000 recently. The reason it was so cheap, was because it had multiple holes drilled into it at the front. So the owner was willing to let it go cheaply. My buddy collector gave me the heads up and I of course jumped to the occasion to buy it.

I asked the seller to put on some 100 mph tape to hide the holes and it makes it look even more used that way, which I actually like haha.

Another package consisted of 2 items. A Norotos 3 hole NVG mount shroud and a Norotos' patented Titanium Advanced Tactical Helmet Mount Assembly (TATM HMA LgArm) .

Quite hard to come by in Europe, since most US sellers don't ship these out of CONUS. And again, my buddy collector gave me the heads up, so thanks to you! You know who you are! :)

MSA gel ear cups upgrade

Just got this in today from talkingheadsets.co.uk: MSA gel ear cups. I ordered these a few weeks ago together with a Nexus U-94 U/A PTT. Unfortunately they forgot to ship the ear cups when they sent out my order and it took them until today to get these out to me.

First impressions were that these are indeed very comfortable to wear, more so than the standard ear seals. They are made out of gel inserts and are heavier than the stock foam inserts. I wear glasses and although I didn't have any problems with the other inserts, these feel even better. Actually I don't feel them at all when I wear them, which is great.

Definitely worth upgrading to these ear cups, especially when you consider their low price.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from mil-freak!

I wish all you guys good luck on your gear hunting and may you win all your ebay auctions! haha.

As for myself, I am running out of FSBE II stuff to buy. On top of my list of things to get are an MSA MICH 2000 helmet and a NOROTOS 3 hole Night Vision Gear shroud.

The past couple of days I have been looking on Ebay for an XL sized MICH, yes my noggin' is huge lol. I could wear an L, but with my MRCS it's kind of a tight fit. Size XL would definitely do the job.

The hardest thing to source, would be the NOROTOS 3 hole shroud, as they are restricted by ITAR, meaning that the US shops and sellers are forbidden to export these. Basically us European collectors are screwed, unless we find someone willing to ship these internationally. But the same goes for a lot of other items and truth be told, you can get your hands on them if you look really hard.

Anyway I'm gonna cut it short, I hope I can post a lot more of my acquisitions this year.

Please support the troops who fight the war on terror and have a happy and safe 2010!

End of 2009 post

I've been quite lazy lately to update the blog recently. These last few weeks I have been getting the last couple of pieces of 2009.

All in all it has been a very, very good year for my collection. Not only have I found most of the FSBE II pouches that I had been looking for, I have also acquired the 3 issued vests/body armors. All this doesn't come cheap though, but fortunately I don't smoke, don't drink, don't do drugs, don't speed in my car. Like one guy at work said, some people just have strange hobbies. They like drinking, smoking, driving fast.

I like hunting and acquiring gear haha. It's a nerdy thing to do, but I love it.

So here are the last couple of items of 2009.

A Nexus U-94 U/A PTT (push to talk button) wired for Kenwood 2 pin radios from talkingheadsets.co.uk. Unfortunately they have forgotten to include the gel ear cups which I paid for and they haven't been replying to my mails. Sucks, I hope they get back to me after New Year.

An Allied Industries holster adapter. This thing basically just allows you to use a Safariland 6004 holster on your MOLLE belt properly. Pretty hard to find. I've only ever seen 3 for sale, including mine.

black D-ring and black buckle dated 03.

A Safariland 6004 holster for Colt 1911 models. I already had the black version, but the tan one is more appropriate. It's not that big of a deal I know, but it was bugging me to no end haha.

And here's the finished FSBE II first line.

  • Eagle Industries war belt
  • Eagle Industries suspenders
  • Eagle Industries 2006 FSBE II .45 FB mag pouches x2
  • Eagle industries 2005 FSBE II M4 mag pouches x2
  • Eagle Industries 2005 FSBE II weapon catch
  • CSM dump pouch
  • CSM light holster
  • Allied Industries 2005 FSBE II leg panel
  • Allied Industries 2004/5 FSBE II holster adapter
  • Gemtech TRL lanyard
  • Safariland 6004 tan holster for Colt 1911 models

Unexpected but welcome surprise!

A few months ago I bought an 2005 issued FSBE 2 med pouch. The Polish seller never sent the pouch however and all communication ceased after I paid him. I had been trying to contact him ever since but I gave up a long time ago, thinking I should just cut my losses and call it a day.

So I went to the post office, expecting it to be an airsoft shotgun, which I bought from a Polish website. How much of a surprise was it, when it turned out to be a little package. Immediately I knew that it was the med pouch that he finally did send.

I just wish that he sent it when I paid for it, I have bought another 2 med pouches in the meanwhile. But I'm still glad I got it, since it's a 2005 issued one with green tag!

More december goodies

My Eagle Industries warbelt and suspenders came in today. At first I thought that the rear strap was too short, but the pics I had of them reassured me that it is supposed to be like that.

The setup is very comfortable to wear, even more so than the duty belt setup I had before. The suspenders really help bear the weight of the whole belt.

The other package I got in this week, came from CSM Gear. I bought a few items to finish the collection.

So I got a fannypack, light holster and a NAC sling for my CIRAS.
